Welcome to WCSS 25 - MAKING SOCIAL STUDIES MATTER! We are excited to host a powerful two day conference in our state capital, sharing countless ideas and methods to continue making social studies relevant to our students.  Get ready to learn, grow, and have some fun in the process!
Saturday March 15, 2025 1:15pm - 2:15pm CDT
Hear, Here is an audio-documentary project that uses phone numbers on street signs to allow people to access short oral histories. This 10-year long project, in La Crosse WI, incorporates Social Studies curriculum of historically marginalized people (LGBTQ+, People of Color, Disabled, Immigrants) for lesson plans and help students to see the lives lived in our local community.

Presenters will provide an overview of Hear, Here exploring highlighted curriculum and stories on the website and how they are being utilized in schools and the community, including meeting state teaching statues. Attendees will receive a printed copy of one of the lessons and materials from the website.
